IDIN Paper

Lampang Thailand

The last of the traditional handmade papermakers

June 2018

Mr Supan is not easy to find. His workshop-studio is off-road about 5 km from Lampang. He and his wife live and work in three long houses, together with local staff. They produce a variety of paper sizes, but the main work is preparing the pulp. Their three lines are, firstly, all mulberry, 50/50 mulberry and bamboo, and 80/20 mulberry and bamboo. He does not advertise. Aficionados make a pilgrimage into the jungle and buy whatever is in stock. IDIN paper is distinctive and hard to obtain.
